It’s all or nothing. After five months and over 15,000 miles traveled, the crew made it to the City of Roses, Portland, Oregon for the fourth annual Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour Finals. 60 of the top skiers and snowboarders from around the nation found their way to Pioneer Square with hopes of snagging a piece of the $5,000 cash purse, heaps of gear, and bragging rights for a year.

Riders arrived to a clear bluebird day, but to no ones surprise the unpredictable spring weather of Oregon rolled in and rain started falling…hard! For the thousands of people who showed up, the rain didn’t discourage the excitement. Copious amounts of free beverages provided by Vitamin Water and Widmer, and ridiculous riding made even the skeptics stay to enjoy the event. Ponchos were handed out keeping people nice and dry and Team Banzai started spinning to kick thing off.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/blood.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With familiar faces everywhere in sight, the best male snowboarders of the tour made their way to the top of the setup. Things got interesting fast. No stranger to the Tour, Jordan Morse destroyed the features finding his way to third place. Local favorite, Jordan Welter was awarded second and snagged himself a nice $600. Utah’s own Christian Hobush was awarded the crown and named the 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour’s champion taking home $1,000, First Drop Outerwear, Celsius boots, and a new board provided by Exit Real World.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/snowboard1.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/snowboard4.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/snowboard_men_winners.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Nine lady shredders made it to the finals and battled it out for the title. Krysta Pelchar wound up in third place after some fancy footwork on the dfd. In second place, taking home a new pair of Roxy bindings was Janessa Bork. For the win, Erika Vikander destroyed the setup and received a new Roxy snowboard, Celsius boots, $500 in cash and some swag from Betty Rides. Congratulations ladies, you killed it!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/snowboard5.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The skiers couldn’t get more entertaining. Banger after banger made judging nearly impossible. Pete Arneson made the down flat down look like child’s play landing him in third place. Second place was awarded to Utah’s own Khai Krepela receiving $600 in cash to help get him through the summer in Govy. Young gun Conner Bennett was awarded the 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour crown receiving $1,000 in cash, a pair of Pabst x K2 and some First Drop Outerwear. Congratulations to all skiers, absolutely killed it!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/portland/ski1.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

And that’s how to the cookie crumbles. The 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour was a success. Many thanks to Ford, K2, First Drop Outerwear, Roxy and Vitamin Water for making this one heck of a year, along with the riders for coming out and shredding hard. The boys at Galvanic are already planning for next year, so until next time… Stay classy!

With more than 10,000 miles under the crew’s belt, the boys finally made it back to the birthplace of the Tour, Corvallis, Oregon for the seventh stop of the Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour . The weather forecast predicted seventy degree temps and crisp blue skies, and the crew was more than stoked to hop on their skateboards and spread the word about the 30 tons of snow that were about to be dropped on campus. With summer right around the corner and carloads of shreds migrating to Mt. Hood, OSU made for a nice pit stop for riders to win some cash to help get through the hot summer months in Govy. Over 150 shredders applied making it one tough event to judge.

Not only was 30 tons of snow hauled in, but 42,000+ gallons of water filled two manmade pools for the first ever wakeboard event on OSU turf. As the event neared, with no surprise, the clouds started to roll in. This change of scenery didn’t phase the riders or crowd. Hundreds of students toughed out the weather while standing in line for custom t-shirts at the Ford booth. Worth it!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/osu/wake_1.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With one of the loudest crowds the Campus Rail Jam Tour has ever seen, the competition exploded right from the start. This year we saw it all, k-feds, disasters, hippy killers, flips…the list could go on! Regardless, you were either jaw-dropped speechless or screaming your lungs out.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/osu/ski_cannon.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Joey Vandermeer got techy with his hardway 270 onto the down tube as well as some steezy frontside switchups to pretzels. Tanner Boudreau had k-feds on lock throughout the comp and scooped up some First Drop Outerwear. Through all the chaos, Maks Gotham was crowned champion taking home a pair of the coveted Pabst x K2 skis.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/osu/ski_tube.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

1st – Maks Gotham
2nd – Tanner Boudreau
3rd – Joey Vandermeer

The snowboarders had their work cut out for them. Stefan Krumm, Justin Norman and Lou Macias were battling it out all competition. Justin Norman laid down a proper lip slide to bonk on the down tube that landed him in third. Stefan Krumm claimed the second place spot with solid style and techy tricks on all three features. In the end, everyone was blown away by first place finisher Lou Macias’ disaster 3’s off the dfd. Lou spun cab, frontside, backside…Macias was on a mission! Lou walked away with a bunch of new gear including some boots from Celsius.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/osu/cannon.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

1st – Lou Macias
2nd – Stefan Krumm
3rd – Justin Norman

The top three lady shreds were some familiar faces, tearing apart the setup with ease. Randa Shahin took the cake for best overall, and went home with all sorts of Roxy gear and an invite to the Portland finals.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/osu/snowboard_womens_winners.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"
1st – Randa Shahin
2nd – Krysta Pelchar
3rd – Sarah Gill

Big thanks to C.ORE Freeride, MUPC and all the help in making this amazing event happen! Next stop…Portland Finals! The top riders from every stop will be making the trek to Portland to battle it out for a $5,000 cash purse and bragging rights till next year!

Reno is no stranger to a good time. The city is literally built around ways for you to go against your better judgement. Whether it’s eating questionable three dollar shellfish or deciding it’s a good idea to “invest” your paycheck into your foolproof method of craps, there’s a good chance you are going to regret it in the morning. Nevertheless, Reno has a lot more to offer than just bright lights and temptation. With the University of Reno situated right beyond the strip, thousands of Sierra-shredding rippers are ready at all times to ride whatever you throw in front of them. Lucky for them, the Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour decided to truck in 25 tons of slush and three rails to help them get their fix.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/setup.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

As the tents went up, motley crews of local shredders began to roll onto the scene. With the scent of the BBQ attracting hungry hotdog-eating co-eds, the crowd assembled, riders geared up, and it was time for blast off.

Reno/Tahoe riders never cease to amaze, casually checking tricks off their seemingly endless list. Flips off the cannon box kept the crowd gasping while the down-flat was pulverized by swivels, presses and spins.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/grab.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/nosepress.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/shuvit.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The skiers dropped next and things got real. The two-plankers decided to have a friendly competition to see who could be the first to land a rodeo off the cannon box. Needless to say, people got inverted and the crowd was stoked. Couple all that with Switch-ups on the down flat down blew and the judges had their work cut out for them.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/ski_dfd.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/ski_flip.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With the jitters out of the way and the cash purse dangled in front of them, finals went off without a hitch. Snowboarder Bryce Salazar stomped all three features for a clean third place finish while Max Fokanaga took home some swag from the sponsors in second. Danny Smith ended up absolutely slaying the setup taking home a wad of cash and some nice new boots from Celsius!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/men_snowboard_winner.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/men_ski_winner.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

No stranger to the podium, skier Jed Kravitz took home a nice pair of Pabst x K2 skis to solidify his invitation to the Portland Finals. Charlie Ingalls came in a close second followed by Jaime Melton.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/women_ski_winner.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Nothing could stop Kristen McCormack as she was the only female skier brave enough to take on the set-up. The lack of competition didn’t phase her, she definitely knows how to ride and scooped up some First Drop Outerwear for making it happen.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/women_snowboard_winner.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The girl snowboarders took a beating trying to take the top spot. Christi Nasser found her way to third followed by Bella Rodriquez in second while the top spot and a new board from Roxy went to none other than Danyale Patterson. You girls killed it!

Big thanks to ASUN, Ford, Roxy, K2 and First Drop for making this annual event so awesome. Next stop, Corvallis, Oregon. Be sure to check out the event video to see the crew getting weird in Reno.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/unr/CRJT_OSU.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

If there’s one thing you need to know about Boulder, it’s that the locals absolutely rip. CU sometimes catches a bad rep for the herds of trustafrians, excessive dupstep, and overabundance of “medicine dispenseries” scattered about town, but if you look past all the smoke and wompwomp, Boulder is still a legit shred destination.

With Salt Lake City in the rear view, the Galvanic Design boys rolled into town with high expectations for the fifth stop of the 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour . After sifting through over 170 applications, it was clear that the riding was going to be heavy. As the crew promoted around town they were constantly bombarded by hopeful riders doing their best to schmooze their way into the comp. The Boulder shreds are hungry!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/event.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The first heat opened up with bangers right off the bat. No need for warm-up runs in Boulder. These kids are born with skis and boards strapped to their feet in these parts. As waves of riders threw down, it was apparent if you didn’t bring you’re A-game you were going to be left in the dust. Backside, frontside, switch, flips…you name it…it was thrown. Nate Codero, Ethan Anderson and Ben Girardi were a few of the snowboarders setting the standards of steeziness in the first heat.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/frontside.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With bass thumping and the crowd screaming, the second heat took off with an explosion of skiers. If you were a judge, we feel sorry for you. It was one jaw-dropping trick after another for a straight 40 mins. Cam Boll, Will Berman, Clayton Villa and Sean Jordan were amongst the many skiers tearing the setup apart. Stomping tricks can be exhausting, thankfully Neuro was there making sure everyone was fully hydrated as well as full mind stimulation.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/beezyz.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

In-between heats the crowd got their greedy little hands on toss-outs from Siege Audio, Candy Grind and First Drop Outerwear. There was even a dup-step dance off to make the crowd work for their free schwag.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/crowd.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

As heat three kicked-off, the ladies proved they were nothing to mess with. Courtney Cox laid down a proper frontside 180 on to 180 out, setting the course for the heat. Cody Boan was one of the few dudes mixed in with the ladies, but he made his presence known and earned a spot in the finals. Before the finals took place, there was a lone soul sitting atop the setup. Holding nothing but a sled and a helmet, this dark knight pointed towards the cannon box and launched off his knees into air. Didn’t seem like the ideal situation for knees, but the crowd went crazy. Props to you sir!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/sled.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/cu/girl_ski.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With so many bangers being thrown down during qualifiers, everyone was hyped for the finals. Right out of the gate riders dropped disaster transfers from the cannon box to the down tube, 610’s off the cannon box, and enough switch-ups to make it hard to tell what was regular and what was switch. The Boulder stop was hands-down one of the hardest competitions to judge. But in the end, overall impression is what matters and the best took home the paper as well as amazing product from Celsius, K2 skis, First Drop Outerwear, Siege Audio, and Roxy! Big ups to Boulder Freeride for all their help as well as Illegal Petes and Cheba Hut for hooking up the food! Next stop….Reno!

Ever wonder what skiing and snowboarding looks like in Utah? Put simply, the SLC shreds were born strapped in! With some of the best ski areas in the country within 30 minutes of downtown, it’s no wonder all the locals rip. For the past four years the University of Utah has been one of the gnarliest events of the Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour , and 2011 proved to be no exception.

A few days before the event, the Campus Rail Jam Tour vagrants were welcomed to Salt Lake City with showers, home cooked meals and plenty of ladies for them to drop their cheesy one-liners on. Sunday morning came quickly along with six inches of new snow on the event site. The crew shot-gunned a couple red bulls and shrugged off the past weekend. With the gnarliest build banged out early in the week it was time to breakout the megaphones and spread the news of Thursday’s rail jam in the Ute’s backyard!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/uu/mascot.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The morning of the event brought another fresh coat of snow to the setup as skiers and snowboarders made their way to the union lawn ready for battle. Before anyone could even find a good spot to watch riders began dropping-in, kicking-off the event with little bail and a lot of bang!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/uu/skier.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With shoulder-to-shoulder conditions, the sponsor village blew up! From free custom tees and dance parties in the Ford booth, to Siege Audio, K2, Roxy, and First Drop Outerwear hooking everybody up with some promo swag! An amped crowd, a fiery DJ, and clear weather were all conducive to riders emptying their bag of tricks, many unveiling their season’s work even in early heats. Just as we thought it couldn’t get any better….finals began!!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/uu/blunt.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Banger after banger after banger after banger! These kids were throwing DOWN. 810’s, 360 switch up’s, hard way 270’s on, oh my! I can’t imagine trying to judge these kids. The crowd was in awe as the best of the best competed for 40 minutes and fought to be crowned University of Utah’s winner.

With the first stop of the 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour under the crew’s belts, the boys packed up camp and wandered south to see what the University of Arizona had to offer. Greeted by the lovely vibes of Valentine’s day drifting through campus, the young cassanovas took to sidewalks of UA to win some hearts and score some digits. But after a few hours of valiant attempts and “romantic” pickup lines, the crew came to a realization; the ladies of Tucson aren’t into grungy dudes that smell like hot dogs and rock farmer’s tans. Bummer.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/setup.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With heavy hearts and sweaty everything, the boys rallied through setup and got the rails primped and primed for the event. Thursday’s weather called for seventy-five degrees with 100 % chance of snow (with a little help from 25 tons of ice and an industrial ice chipper). As the giant margarita maker turned the desert into a winter oasis the hyped AZ riders made their way to the UA mall with nervous smiles on their faces. Who wouldn’t want to shred in the desert!? As classes ended the sponsor village took off with a bang and the Ford booth was packed within seconds of opening. With a deafening crowd almost muffling the DJ’s beats, heat one opened with riders throwing down.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/snowblow.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

The first heat came and went, with riders simply trying to get their bearings straight on the man-made mountain. After stripping down to tank tops and shorts, the heat two rippers climbed the stairs and kicked things off with a bang. Things got real right off the bat as Alex Gaynor stomped a downhill 270 on the down flat, sending the crowd into a roar. As the competitors got comfortable the riding quickly transitioned from bails to bangers and riders realized they were going to have to back their shred with some steeze to take home the win. With First Drop Outerwear, Roxy snowboards, and K2 skis up for grabs, the desert shreds began to huck their faces off.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/skier.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/dfd.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/skier2.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

In between heats the crowd got rowdy for some toss outs thanks to Siege Audio, and lucky Samantha Hansen took home a sick custom CRJT FORD snowboard!

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/winner.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Students were more than ready to see what would go down as the finals began. Riders pulled out everything they had to help seal their fate and an invite to the Portland finals in May. Jake Vivori set the mark high in heat three making his nose-presses look easy on the down flat down. York Meyers got inverted both back and front off the cannon box while Garrett Bright cranked downhill 270’s out of the downtube.

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/frontboard.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Sara Mazzarela snagged 1st in women’s snowboarding, Emily Astiz took 2nd and Karissa Timpe rolled in at 3rd

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/maleski.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

York Meyers placed 1st in Men’s skiing while Alex Gaynor took 2nd and CRJT’s Garrett Bright ranked 3rd

<img src="http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/ua/malesnowboard.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

In Men’s snowboarding, Ian Miller placed 3rd, Alan Splitter 2nd, and Hovey Haskins in 3rd.

Thanks to Ford and the rest of the partners for an awesome event in southern Arizona. We’re stoked to get back in the cold and see what the riders at the University of Colorado have to offer in Boulder. Come check it out on March 3rd!

Remember that feeling you had as a kid the night before Christmas? A little bit restless, a little bit anxious, and a lotta bit excited. Yeah, that’s what the crew felt the night before the first stop of the 2011 Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour. But with sunny skies, 75-degree temps, and the entire cheerleading squad at their disposal it was obvious the first event was going to go off without a hitch. Top that off with a fresh mini-ramp, live music, and even a ferris wheel, and you’ve got all the key ingredients for an epic event.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_ferriswheel.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With the CRJT crew full of fresh new faces for 2011, the boys were hyped and ready to rally. Local shred talent came out in droves, anxiously waiting to hit the new 2011 features! A greasy 30ft down tube and a 7ft cannon box made for the dopest set-up yet.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_riders.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

ASU’s own Sparky the Sun Devil claimed first drop and seemed pretty confident for a dude wearing an awkward jumpsuit. Everyone held their breath as he pointed his board down the set-up. With a properly executed straight air off the cannon box, the seal was broken and heat one was underway. Some of Arizona’s finest snowboarders threw down all over the man-made mountain.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_devil.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Young gun, Isiah Goedee, didn’t seem phased by the older competition as he kept up with the big dogs throughout the day. The rails may have been as tall as he was but that didn’t seem to hinder his mellow 360’s off the cannon box. Trevor Routman had his backside boardslides on lock and Greg Sudac make his tail-presses look far too easy.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_isiah.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

With the snow holding strong in the desert sun, heat two began with the skiers going for broke. Within minutes the first nutter butter went down and sent the crowd into a disturbingly excited roar. James Johnson set the pace early with smooth downhill 270s out of both the down-flat-down and the down-tube. Once heat two wrapped up, ASU’s Cheerleading squad came out and got the crowd pumped while the crew performed some course maintenance.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_skiertube.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

Heat three began with a bang as Allan Splitter got inverted off the cannon box. Dennis Fuller followed up a proper frontside boardslide through the down tube. John Montana killed the down-flat-down with 50-50 frontside switch-up over the kink. It was hard to tell if the crowd was more psyched on the stomped tricks or the burly wrecks, but either way they were hyped!

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_backflip.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

At the end of the third heat, the ASU marching band came out and got the crowd stoked for the finals. It went down just as heavy as any football halftime show.

<img src=" http://campusrailjamtour.com/images/2011_Events/asu/asu_halftime.jpg" WIDTH="500" HEIGHT="xxx"border="0"

First Drop Outerwear, Roxy, K2 Skis, and Siege Audio all had their booths up displaying product as well as giving out stickers, wristbands and other free goodies. Many of the lucky ASU students changed their Facebook profile picture to the tour poster which allotted them a free Siege Audio drawstring bag. Hint hint…start changing your Facebook profile pictures as the tour rolls through your town!

Of course, the major attraction of the Sponsor Village was the Ford Campus Rail Jam Tour booth. The line went clear to the Ferris wheel, a good hundred yards away. Why you ask?? People were hyped on the custom t-shirt printing as well as the chance to win a TRIP TO VEGAS!. C’mon…It’s Vegas! Who wouldn’t be stoked?

Finals went down with a bang! Everyone one-upped their qualifying runs and crowd was in awe. It was hard for the judges to keep track of everything as riders stomped trick after trick. James Johnson stepped his game up and threw downhill switch-ups on both the down flat down and down tube landing him 1st place on the podium. David Biner threw one of the most stylish backflip nosegrabs off the cannon box. Sara Mazzererella proved she was the top girl snowboarder of the day with a front 180 melon while Allan Splitter took 1st place with a switch front flip off the cannon box and smooth back 180 on nose press to 180 off. Kid slayed!

This is it. The final showdown. After five months and 15,000 miles of searching the western US for the best amateur shreds, the Campus Rail Jam Tour has landed back in Portland, Oregon and rallied the troops for the third annual downtown showdown. 80 of the top rail riders made the trek from all over the nation in hopes of taking home the crown and a piece of the $10,000 in cash and prizes.

Riders were welcomed to Portland in true Oregon fashion with cloudy skies and wet weather. Anyone who was expecting a sunny day of spring shred was sadly mistaken as the weather showed no signs of turning pleasant anytime soon. For the few thousand people that showed up to get in on the action, the rain didn’t seem to hinder the fun. Free beer, free product, and insane riding made the event too fun to let a little precipitation get in the way. Cricket Wireless was turning frowns upside down by handing out hundreds of free ponchos to keep people warm and dry. With DJ wiki bumping beats and the Widmer kegs flowing strong, the finals got underway and jaws began to drop.

Besides the riding (and the after party), the best part of the finals is getting to see all the familiar faces. Carload after carload of hungry riders showed up at the event with smiles on their faces and butterflies in their stomachs, excited to see one another and get wild. Psyched and ready to go, the skiers headed up the steps and got down to business. Things got real techy real quick, and the top of the pack quickly separated themselves from the rest. Local boy, Joey Vandermeer ended up in third place after coming off a win at OSU. Second place was awarded to McRae Williams along with $500 in cash to blow at the party. Taking the cake for the entire 2010 Campus Rail Jam Tour was local favorite Garrett Rowley, walking away with $1500 and a dope new pair of Coreupt skis.

Only two ladies made it to the finals to represent for the two plankers. Kristie Giles and Katie Powers faced off and battled to one-up each other for the entire three hours. After slaying all three features, Kristie Giles took home the win along with some cash, Coreupt skis and Roxy outerwear. Way to represent ladies!

When it came time for the snowboarders to drop it was clear that these guys were serious. Many competitors were heading to Hood for the summer with empty wallets, so the potential of taking home $1,500 cash was no joke. The riding was on point, and riders were going for broke. The Tour has seen flip attempts before, but never a successful landing. That all changed at the finals. Normally, flips are frowned upon, but the crew let it slide so Christian Hobush could throw a front flip over the gap onto the box. Pretty ridiculous stuff. Christian ended up in second place with $500 followed by Jordan Welter in third, taking home some cash and a custom snowboard from Ford. On top of the podium was Lou Macias in first place, makin’ it rain with $1,500 in one dollar bills, ready for the club. Lou also filled his trunk with a 2011 snowboard from Salomon snowboards and boots from Celsius. Congrats boys!

The female shreds had a great showing at the finale with some of the best riders from a mix of all the stops. The wet weather didn’t exactly make things easy, so the ladies really had to work for it! Randa Shahin slayed everything, as expected, and landed in third place with some cash. Ashley Thornton surprised some people with an amazing bag of tricks and took home second place along with a board from Roxy and a stack of cash. Taking it all and deserving every bit of it was Krysta Pelchar. Krysta killed it all day and didn’t let the rain get in her way. Krysta took home a 2011 snowboard from Salomon and enough cash to get her through a summer in Govy. Props!

Well, that’s a wrap! The 2010 Campus Rail Jam Tour mobilized by Cricket and Ford is in the books!

A huge thanks goes out to Cricket Wireless and Ford for making the Tour happen, along with all the riders for helping us spread the shred across the country! Keep an eye out for things to come from Galvanic Design, you won’t be disappointed! Until next time…..hang loose mother goose.
