“Isn’t that snow gonna melt?” If the Campus Rail Jam Tour crew was given a penny every time they were asked that question, they could finally afford the upgrade from Ramen to Cup-o-Noodle and live like kings. Sweatshirts would be traded for finest velvet robes and the bus replaced by a golden chariot. Regardless of the endless luxuries that could be afforded, the crew’s piggybank certainly would have been full after the second stop of the 2010 Tour at Arizona State University. As the snow was transplanted from Flagstaff to Tempe, puzzled on-lookers all stared, pointed, and pondered the same thing, “They know that’s going to melt, right?”
Sure enough, the desert sun sucked the soul from the snow and the SRC field began to look like a mud pit at Woodstock (with less intravenous drug use and hippies, of course). Once again, the event boasted a mini ramp so local shreds could show off to the college ladies. Even a rollerblader showed up to bust out a few backflips, woohoo!
Free product, live music, and beautiful weather made skipping class a no-brainer. The Cricket Wireless booth was a crowd favorite with free do-it-yourself T-shirts. Be sure to make your own custom design at a future event! The Ford booth was also a hot-spot with everyone registering to win the Ford Ultimate Snowboard Giveaway. Top all that off with a dance-off, and you’ve got the best “sick-day” ever!
Many of the competitors from the first event at UA drove up to Tempe for redemption and a second helping of the metal mass. Unfortunately for most, the 2010 setup has been serving more people than a soup kitchen and claiming victims throughout Arizona. However, a small handful walked away unscathed and victorious.
Jenna Wittl took home third place in the ladies division followed by Taryn Chee in second. Crystal Taren was able to hang with the boys and hit the ten foot gap to down box, earning her first place and a fresh new Banana Traction deck from Roxy snowboards.

Sebastian Castro came out swinging in the fellas snowboard division and got some hoots and hollers from the crowd landing him in third with a CRJT x Neff collabo hat and some other goodies. After a first place finish at UA, David Biner came up to ASU on a mission to go two for two in the state of Arizona. As usual, David killed it but fell a bit short of the “W” and happily took home second place and some Bonfire outerwear. The man of the hour was Brandon Darley, destroying the setup and landed in first for his techie combos. Brandon walked away with a new Salomon Snowboard and a big ol’ smile.

When the skiers began to drop it was clear that Alex Gaynor was going to repeat his win from the last stop at UA, and go two for two at ASU. Alex slaughtered all three features and was hooked up with a pair of Coreupt skis for a hard day’s shredding. Second and Third place skiers Ian Stucky and Jack Cowan both scooped up some sick new Bonfire outerwear for throwing themselves down the setup and landing on their feet.

With the second event of the Cricket Campus Rail Jam Tour mobilized by Cricket and Ford wrapped up, the Galvanic Design crew is stoked to leave the desert and head to hills of Colorado for the next event at the University of Utah on Thursday, March 4th!
